If you’re looking for a surreal travel experience, Las Vegas doesn’t disappoint. I’ve just got back from eight days in the city (tip: don’t ever go to Vegas for eight days), by the end of which I’d slowly become convinced that the sky was painted on and we were actually inside a vast, Truman Show-style set. The blinding lights of the Strip - imagine walking around Times Square on an endless loop - scorching heat and relentless slot machine soundtrack will do that do a girl.
Mild hysteria aside, I developed a strange affection for Las Vegas during my time there. Although I didn’t really get to partake in its notorious debauchery (I was there for work), I certainly appreciated it from a distance. In our dark and gloomy times, there’s something enchanting about a place that is still dedicated to neon-lit, pink-feathered fun and frivolity. Here are a few highlights from my trip.
