Sapas: It’s like tapas, but Finnish. That means the same small plates and sharing ethos, but less patatas bravas and more potato pancakes.
Juuri, renowned for its sapas-heavy menu, is rated as one of the best restaurants in Helsinki and I can see why: everything we tried, from to Aquavit-marinated salmon to fried willow herb was inventive, perfectly cooked, and totally delicious. Juuri proved to be an effective and delicious to sample a huge range of new flavours (blackcurrant herring, lovage butter) in unintimidating portion sizes. For the record, we finished it all.
