Traditional Finnish cuisine is comforting and delicious but after three solid days of rye bread and fried herring, I was craving something lighter.

We took a risk on Kabuki, located on a very quiet street near our hotel, and were glad we did: the traditional Japanese restaurant featured cute, private booths, friendly service (we watched in amazement as our waitress mentally translated Japanese to Finnish to English, and back again) and best of all – really fresh, fairly-priced sushi and sashimi. Seek it out when the prospect of yet another plate of mashed potatoes becomes just too much to bear.
