Just when you thought London’s favourite udon restaurant Koya couldn’t get any better, they go and open a restaurant next door that serves a near-identical menu except with the crucial addition of breakfast. That means less time waiting for a table, more time inhaling perfect bowls of creamy, comforting, congee-style porridge, enhanced with a range of AM-appropriate toppings. I went for the Kedgeree (flakes of smoked haddock, bonito flakes, golden yolked poached egg), but there’s also a more traditional Okayu option (pickles, marinated seaweed) and even English breakfast with bacon, Shitake mushrooms, and a fried egg (!!!)
